The unit of recovery is not the isolated object.
Landscape is a field of ecological, spatial, social, cultural, and political relations that sustain life.
Recovery restores and regenerates the capacities carried through those relations. Rebuilding may contribute to recovery, but replacement alone does not prove that dwelling, access, livelihood, memory, care, or ecological function has returned.
Variables, relations, and spatial forms.
Know what kind of thing you are naming.
Water, soil, land, paths, cultivation, dwelling, livelihood, knowledge, identity, care, governance, and time can vary in presence, strength, direction, or availability.
A relation connects, separates, distributes, enables, limits, amplifies, or makes one variable dependent on another.
A node, route, zone, or network locates a capacity or relation. It is not itself the variable, operation, or recovery logic.
Variables and relations first form a meaningful whole for diagnosis and care. When that whole repeatedly depends on, enables, and reproduces the same expressions and feedback loops, it is synthesised into a provisional recovery system.
The operational grammar.
Operations are the initial way of thinking.
They are not symbols added after a proposal exists.
Each operation directs attention differently: toward assembly, loss, power, distribution, compounding, grouping, sequence, equivalence, difference, or direction. The same operation can reveal damage and formulate transformation.

What must be present together?
Addition gathers capacities, resources, histories, and forms of life into the account of recovery. It expands what is recognised as necessary—but coexistence alone does not prove that the parts function together.
Reveals what is absent from an apparently complete recovery inventory.
Assembles capacities that must become present together.
An added object can still remain disconnected, inaccessible, or harmful.
Diagnosis, transformation, and outcomes.
Do not confuse the problem, the intervention, and what it generates.
Reconstruct the present mechanism.
Diagnosis uses operations to explain how relations are producing diminished capacity. It retains causes, forces, sequence, and distribution instead of naming only a visible symptom.
Redirect the diagnosed mechanism.
Transformation removes, adds, redistributes, amplifies, regroups, or reorders relations. It responds to the diagnosis; it is not a detached list of projects.
Hold more than one future open.
An action can generate capacity or reproduce harm. Anticipation names both branches explicitly; observation later establishes what is actually emerging.

From expressions to systems.
Systems are synthesised, then used.
When variables, relations, expressions, and feedback loops repeatedly depend upon and reproduce one another, they are synthesised into a provisional recovery system. The system then returns to the landscape as a lens for coordinated transformation and long-term care. Feedback may revise, combine, divide, or rename it.
